Happy Birthday

Happy Birthday to my beautiful "baby" girls. I can't believe it's been seven years since I first laid eyes on you.

I saw Kaylee first and I remember that your face was all scrunched up because you were not very happy about what was going on. Despite the scrunchy face, I knew instantly that you were gorgeous. It took a while (or at least what feels like a while to a laboring Mother) for your first cry and I remember your Daddy telling me that you were fine. I could tell by the love in his voice that everything was okay and I desperately needed that reassurance.

Then, I saw McKay. You were alert and seemed so okay with everything that was going on around you. This was the first indication of your baby personality. Always laid back, going with the flow and watching those around you struggle with an "I don't see the big deal" look on your face. That personality has changed over the years to a "I need things to be right... right now" personality, but I know that you will always accomplish what you set your mind to. You looked so much like me and melted my heart with your stunning blue eyes. I never thought being the mother of girls would feel any different than being a mother of boys, but I remember those few days after your birth... it was a completely different experience and I felt ( and still feel ) like the most blessed person on earth to have you both. You make me a better woman with your examples of true nurture and love. Thank you my angels.
